Fridge Recycling

ASM’s Fridge collection service was introduced following EU legislation in 2002 regarding the safe disposal of CFC gases.  Another example of ASM’s commitment to a safer and cleaner environment.

New European Union regulations which came into force on 1 January 2002 prohibit the disposal of old fridges in the traditional ways, for example scrap yards and landfill sites.

Householders will probably find that their supplier of a new fridge will no longer take back the old one without charge.

To dispose of fridges and freezers there are two options for householders:

  1. Contact a specialised fridge recycling contractor for legal disposal of your appliance.  ASM offer this service to householders, please use the contact details on this website.
  2. Take your fridge/freezer to one of the nine Household Waste and Recycling Centres listed on the CA Sites page of this website.

Any local authorities or commercial outlets that are interested in Fridge Recycling please contact ASM for further details.

Fridges that are collected are taken to a specialist recycling facility where they are treated according to current legislation to ensure maximum protection to the environment.
